BCCI chairman N. Srinivasan was elected head of the International Cricket Council board at a meeting of cricket’s apex body in Singapore on Saturday that also approved wide-ranging structural reforms. The move came despite complaints that too much power was being placed in the hands of the ‘Big Three’ — India, England and Australia.

5)Over Rs.56,000 cr worth bids in spectrum auction

The ongoing spectrum auction has so far ensured the government revenues worth over Rs.56,000 crore. “A total of 40 rounds are over. Bids worth around Rs.32,833.72 crore are received for 1800 MHz (available in all 22 telecom circles) and Rs.23,356.18 crore for 900 MHz (available in three metros circles of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata)...A total of Rs.56,189.90 crore,” Telecom Secretary M. F. Farooqui told journalists here on Saturday.
A total of eight companies are taking part in the auction that began on Monday and the process is likely to get completed in the next three-four days.
