Today's Important NEWS

1) "Satya Nadella" becomes new CEO of Microsoft (US software Giant ). He is Hyderabad Native.  


Bringing to an end months of speculation, U.S software giant Microsoft, on Monday, appointed Hyderabad native Satya Nadella as its new CEO.
“During this time of transformation, there is no better person to lead Microsoft than Satya Nadella,” said Bill Gates, Microsoft’s founder and Chairman of the Board
After what was described as a “bruising” five-month selection period the Microsoft Board signalled its intention to focus on innovation by selecting the man credited with developing the company’s cloud computing and Bing search engine businesses.
In his email to Microsoft employees on his first day as CEO Mr. Nadella said, “Today is a very humbling day for me. It reminds me of my very first day at Microsoft, 22 years ago… I saw then how clearly we empower people to do magical things with our creations and ultimately make the world a better place.”
Mr. Nadella who holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Manipal University, a master’s in computer science from the University of Wisconsin, and an MBA from the University of Chicago, joined Microsoft in 1992.


2) "Ashok Madhur" to head Seventh Pay Commission. 

    
With the Lok Sabha elections fast approaching, the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, on Tuesday, constituted the Seventh Central Pay Commission.
The commission’s recommendations are expected to benefit 35 lakh Central government employees.
The commission, to be headed by the retired Supreme Court judge Ashok Kumar Mathur, will submit its report in 19 months and its recommendations will be effective from January 2016.

4) Queen to meet Pope at Vatican.


Queen Elizabeth II will meet Pope Francis for the first time when she visits Rome in April as a guest of the Italian President, Buckingham Palace said on Tuesday.
The queen and her husband Prince Philip will have an audience with the Pope after attending a lunch hosted by President Giorgio Napolitano during the one-day visit on April 3. It will be the first time that the Queen, who is supreme governor of the Church of England, will meet the Roman Catholic leader since he was elected in March last year.


5) Deceleration in growth arrested : Finance Minister


Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, on Tuesday, said that the deceleration in economic growth had been arrested in the second quarter of 2013-14. Inflationary pressures and structural bottlenecks were, however, some of the factors that continued to weigh down the growth process, Mr. Chidambaram added. He was speaking at the ninth meeting of the Financial Stability and Development Council (FSDC) here.
Stressing the need for the government and the financial sector regulators to ensure robust growth and manage vulnerabilities, the Finance Minister said that inter-regulatory issues should be resolved in a time-bound manner by the FSDC Sub-Committee and priority should be accorded to steps such as common demat account for financial assets which would add considerable benefits to the consumers.
